Coffee drinking in the UK developed in the 1950s, with most people buying instant powder, which was introduced by American servicemen in the post war period. In the 1970’s as consumer tastes became more sophisticated the demand for real coffee began to grow and so did the popularity of Douwe Egberts coffee.
Throughout the history of Douwe Egberts there has been an insistence on quality products and a desire to see the company expand, this has led to Douwe Egberts becoming one of the leading coffee companies in Europe and the number one roast & ground coffee brand in the UK today.
